Dr Tay completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2003 and went on to obtain her MRCP and Master of Medicine in 2007. She was accredited as a specialist in Geriatric Medicine in 2010.

She was awarded the National Research Foundation's Ministry of Health Healthcare Research Scholarship from 2011 to 2013 and has been awarded several grants as Principal Investigator.

Dr Tay's research interests lie in cognitive disorders, frailty and sarcopenia.
